Guest Susuwub Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 For some reason, my C600 kept failing to syncronise (I can't remember the error exactly, but it kept saying that all changes before the next sync will be lost), so I unplugged it from my PC, turned it off and then deleted the partnership. When I turned it back on, it was syncronising OK, but for some reason it thinks that I have one new SMS message. I've gone through all of my messages and they are all marked as read. Is there something I can do to get rid of it?

Guest Susuwub Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 It's the default Microsoft one. I don't think that's relevant anyway because when I go to 'Messaging' it says: 1 SMS (1) 2 Outlook Email 3 MMS
Guest sporkguy Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 Try changing folders and see if there's any unread in drafts, outbox etc - it shouldnt make a difference but its worth a try.
Guest RobertCeuppens Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 Try sending yourself some texts and deleting them. It might work... :)
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 Sounds like the old phantom SMS bug, but not heard of it before on a WM5 device.
Guest Susuwub Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) is there any software that I could use to copy the messages to my computer? Then I could just clear the folder and copy them back... Edit: Well that didn't work. I cleared the folder and it still insists there's a new message, even though the folder is empty. This is probably risky, but worth doing if you are adventurous and want to solve this problem. Go to the registry key HKCU\System\State\Messages\sms\Unread and change the value of Text from SMS (1) to SMS (0). Immediately reboot the phone. This just might fix the problem. Pavan PS: If you have US English as your language, the standard name for SMS is "Text Messages". I wanted to change that to SMS, so I did this registry change with happy results.

Lets you export and back up all your SMS messages to a sps file and then oimport them back as texts, like they were never gone...genious!
