Hi..

I have just upgraded to an orange spv from a sony ericsson P910i

I must say I much prefered my 910 except for size..

What are the must have apps to make this a useable phone?

Currently I find the alarm feature very lacking..

The calendar is also poor.. especialy that you cant see all day events in month view unless they are set as busy.. and reminders cant be set for 2 or 3 days.

You cant sync, or even add text notes on the phone.

The phone generally seems a bit slow and un responsive.

I think what I need is a good desktop app similar to tracker on the P910, a better alarm clock and calendar, and something to give me jotter/note facility which can be synced with out look.

Any ideas and suggestions?

Cheers

For calendar and task management, try Papyrus and Facade and you might find them useful. (Check out the free trial first of course :).) There are a bunch of alarm programs in the downloads section, but you do need to play around with them to see which one you like. I use Fizz Traveller's alarm feature which is really good. For synchronizing notes, there are some applications out there too, like Smartphone Notes and PhatNotes. I haven't used those applications, but other users here might have.

I guess you had all this stuff out of the box with your earlier phone, and it's extra time you have to spend to get it working on your new WM smartphone that's supposed to be an upgrade... I certainly wish the built-in applications with WM5 were higher quality. For example, I was shocked to find that the "no easily accessible alarm" issue was not addressed in WM5! But the good thing is, you can get your phone working exactly the way you like -- and you can spend days customizing it if you want to :).

Cheers for the reply..

Guess more research is needed.. bit annoying that I need to go to these lengths to get what I consider to be basic functionality :)

I thought going to windows I would get better integratoin.. infact its worse!
