Thanks I already read that post, it kind of ventures off to BT GPS Receivers which I want to avoid as I just bought a Wired GPS Receiver.

bluebunny said they had spoken to PDAmods where they bought there cradle from and he said it would receive data.

I have a PS2 GPS Receiver converted to RJ11 thought a PS2 to RJ11 converter and like I said before the GPS Receiver has been tested and works so could it be the cradle?

Thanks Anyway

Post No 4 in thatthread states that the RJ11 port on that cradle is for charging only so it won't work - unless I am reading it wrong?

iQue,

I'm having very similar problems. Have ordered an Arkon CM 800 mount with GPS (now on second unit as assumed first was faulty).

The mount has a power/ data USB port that connects to miniUSB of the M500. Have tried a dumb terminal application, WinFast Navigator to try and get the NMEA data stream - nothing.

Having spent the last five hours on Google, am at a loss. There are so many sites selling this mount for use with the T-moblie MDA / i-mate Jam / SPV M500 and all the HTC Magician clones that I assumed this combo should work.

I've done all the obvious - hard reset, reinstallation of TomTom 5 , receive all beams off, different sync cables.

I have found several posts stating that the HTC Magician doesn't support serial protocol over USB. I can't confirm this however (any ideas anyone on a definite answer?). If this is true then any wired GPS is doomed to fail and the only option is to go with Bluetooth.

M500 Info:

Operator Version 6.12.5.173

ROM Version1.12.00 WWE

Quick update.

Just spoken to Orange who managed an uber geek out of a closet. He informed me that the spv m500 definitely

does support serial port protocol as com 1 over the miniusb port so there shouldn't be a problem getting a data stream from the crade.

Is the cradle you have this type?

If so, that RJ11 port is for charging only - there's no data connection :)

Crap, Yeah its the one!........ Why have an RJ11 port on the thing if it's only for charging a BT GPS receiver, very strange. Thanks anyway.

Can anyone recommend a BT GPS Receiver that will work with the SPV M500 and TomTom Nav 5.x ?

Thanks again.

There are numerous threads on BT GPS receivers, most of which end up with recomendations to buy a cheap one off eBay....
