Call History problem on Windows Mobile 5 (T-Mobile SDA)

I'm having a frustrating problem with Call History on my WM 5, T-Mobile SDA:

When some of my contacts call, their phone numbers show up in my call log with a + symbol before them (as in when making an International call). The problem is when I hit Talk to return the call, I get a message from T-Mobile about not being able to connect this "International call".

The strange thing is not every caller seems to have this problem. It also seems to happen both with callers who are in my contact list as well as those who are not.

Anyone have any ideas?? I have tried everything I can think of, and T-Mobile has been useless (they of course want to try replacing the phone).

If you were to ask T-Mobile to enable international calling from your phone, would the problem go away? I am sure (well, more or less) that they won't charge you actual international rates for a local call just because you dialled a +, right?
