Guest artvandalay Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 Ok ive read many complaints of the c500/smt5600 having issues of buttons becoming hard to push and some have even remapped the functions to other buttons. But has anyone replaced the keypad itself? Im not talking the keys on the rubber pad, I mean this part keypad if so can anyone share how to disconnect the orange cable? Ive ordered on from ebay and will soon be taking on this task and would like any advice thanks, Art

It obviously needs removing and replacing with care but there's no soldering or anything complicated involved to disconnect and reconnect it. See the various pics of C500 disassembly (some of which are on Modaco) and you'll see how it fits together. BTW, that's a good price... It's quite a sophisticated little unit! Sp00k...

Thank you very much. although Ive taken the phone apart a couple times to clean the screen and to try to find someway to get my keys to work I never really looked at that ribbon. And yeah I was suprised I got it for 25 bucks american. My phone is still under warranty, but since I took it apart, Im not even gonna try to send it in. Not only that but Id have to wait forever to get my phone back and I cant be without my phone. So this is a cheap alternative that Id probably have done even if I could get it fixed for free.
