Guest timpharrison Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 I have an Orange M600 and have set up a mail2weblive account. Following the excellent guide (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=240460), I have set up the M600 to accept push email from mail2web. Finally, I have my work and personal email forwarded to mail2web, which is then pushed to the device. And it worked... for a about two weeks... Now whenever I try to send/recieve mail from the mobile, I get the message "Error Synchronizing". If I have the phone connected to my PC, the sync works fine. I have tried setting the M600 to connect to "The Internet" instead of "Orange WAP or GPRS", but nothing seems to work. Has anyone experienced this, or have an idea what could be wrong? Thanks, Tim

Has anyone experienced this, or have an idea what could be wrong? Thanks, Tim I have the same problem on my i-mate SP5 smartphone. I first noticed it yesterday. I ignored it thinking their server is temporarily down or something; but you're right, when I connect to the PC it works! The login part seems to go OK, because ActiveSync says "Synchronizing folders" and stays that way for a while. So there is some communication going on with their server. It then says "Looking for changes" briefly and reports an error. The support code is 0x80072F17. Perhaps an Exchange/ActiveSync expert can tell us what's going on based on this information! Pavan
Guest sporkguy Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 I use the pay-for service provided by 4smartphone.com and I can honestly say I've not had a single issue with connectivity since I started with the service 2 months ago. I guess the free servers on mail2web are being pushed to capacity?
Guest Crispy Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 I've been using mail2web fine over the past few days... synced 3-4 times with no problems whatsoever... maybe just a random flux?

Do you have the Direct Push thing turned on? Is it working for you? I am getting emails delivered only when I connect the phone to the computer! Which means the sync is not working over GPRS.

Suggest someone emails their tech support.
Guest lescargot Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 Same problem here. I don't think it is a problem with the mail2web servers though because if you uncheck the ssl selection it works.
Guest Stabilo Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Same problem here. I don't think it is a problem with the mail2web servers though because if you uncheck the ssl selection it works. Unchecking SSL does appear to 'fix' the problem. I still suspect mail2web though as SSL connections were working until recently. Either that or the mobile network operator has made a change at their end. I am with T-Mobile, what providers are others experiencing trouble with?

Guest yoda6 Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Same problem here, was working fine for weeks, now isn't. T-Mobile Vario with factory ROM.
Guest timpharrison Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 From original poster: Just to confirm the points above, a work-around for this problem is to disable SSL in ActiveSync (Tools -> Configure Server Source). Cheers, Tim
Guest Confucious Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Error 0x80072F17 is a certyificate problem - by turning off ssl it doesn't check the certificate and all your email is not secure. It will work but I'm not sure I'd do it!
Guest Stabilo Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Error 0x80072F17 is a certyificate problem - by turning off ssl it doesn't check the certificate and all your email is not secure. It will work but I'm not sure I'd do it! I am reluctant to operate with SSL off but when I'm out of the office I have no choice (or no email). Is the certificate checking down to the PPC, network provider or mail2web?
Guest Confucious Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 mal2web will issue a cert which must be from a trusted supplier Start->Settings-System-Certificates - Root Tab It sounds like they have changed there cert - has anyone asked them?

Following your suggestion I have just sent them a brief email regarding their security certificate. I will let you know when (if) I hear back from them.
Guest mattoo Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 dear all, same problem for me so I unchecked the SSL and it works... ...but it takes around 5 minutes to get any new message, do you have the same delay ? :) I also sent them "a brief email regarding their security certificate". be sure I'll let you know aswell if I get any answer.

No delay with my pushmail. There is a schedule in ActiveSync, needs to be set to 'as items arrive'.
Guest mattoo Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 No delay with my pushmail. There is a schedule in ActiveSync, needs to be set to 'as items arrive'. ok thanks... mine is set to "as items arrive" too, but still it does not work quite quickly... :)
Guest Stabilo Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 ok thanks... mine is set to "as items arrive" too, but still it does not work quite quickly... :) How do you know there is a delay? Have you tried sending test emails to yourself? You should arrange for mail to be FORWARDED from your ISP rather than COLLECTED by mail2web. Collection does involve very long delays, I was waiting 30 minutes or so when I relied on mail2web collection.
Guest Chiz Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Following your suggestion I have just sent them a brief email regarding their security certificate. I will let you know when (if) I hear back from them. Looking forward to their response. I have been wondering why mine says last synced 08/06/06 18:52. Don't use it too much though so wasn't an immediate problem. Chiz
Guest mattoo Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 (edited) How do you know there is a delay? Have you tried sending test emails to yourself? yes, I'm using redirection of my emails to web2mail and I also tried a lot of time to send test emails directly to my web2mail address, and it always takes about 2-5 minutes to be sync with my qtek9100 (spvm3000). :) oh by the way : are you using SSL authentification ? it does not work for me Edited June 15, 2006 by mattoo

We are guessing they have changed their security certificate.

And does it work the same for you since you've turned SSL off ? do you receive the emails as quickly as before ? thanks again for your help :)
Guest Chiz Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Well mine is working again. :) Is that working as it was originally with the SSL box ticked, or with it un-ticked? Mine keeps asking for my password to be entered. When I enter what I think is correct it asks me again? What is the password to put in ActivSync. Is it the one I log-in with on my PC or some other? Thanks Chiz
