Guest turbosteve Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 First off, hello first time poster but I've been reading the forums for about a month now. I bought my Cingular 2125 (Tornado) about a month ago and have been enjoying it for some time and have been slowing re-learning my way thru WM. The last windows PDA I had was an iPaq 3835 I'd since moved to Palm. Well the 2125 made me want to switch back.... until last Friday. I was having a memory shortage like everyone else on the 2125 and bought a 1G Mini SD off ebay and put it in the phone. This was about 1pm by 8 pm the phone was giving me grief about the battery being dead.... strange I thought so I put it on the charger and went to bed later. In the morning all green from charging and away I went for the day. I left the house at 9am and by 2:20 the phone was <30% I was loosing battery at a rate over 10% an hour. The phone was hot too. Confused I thought maybe a program was keeping it alive so I hard reset the phone and formatted the Mini Sd card and recharged. After it booted back up with nothing on the phone it did the same thing. Again a recharge and this time I pulled the Mini SD out and viola no more drain. Thinking this was strange I did some research on it when I got to work this morning and found many many web postings about WM5 and SD cards causing turbo drain. The solution/problem involved activesync polling constantly and there were several posted fixes. Well hopefull I did one of these fixes noted here: http://mobilitytoday.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10590 I then hard reset the phone again (before the fix) and waited an hour to monitor the battery and lo and behold the drain still occurs. What gives is anyone else seeing this? I did many searches everywhere I could think of and could not find a reference to this occuring with the 2125 / Tornado. Am I the only one or is it something as a given right now or is there an easy fix.... To me the phone is worthless without the ability to have an SD card in it. I've got to much stuff I need with me.
