Backlight going out on my MPx220 :(

Hey I got a Black MPx220 not too long ago and the backlight on the main LCD seems to be shorting out. I can't find my reciept so i can't send it into motorola for repairs. Is my only option to buy another LCD and swap it out? I have instrustions on how to disassemble the phone. If anyone has any advice or has done this thing before I would greatly appreciate the help. Also I have found new LCD's on ebay and a few other sites for $50+, does anyone have a dead MPx220 with a working LCD and would be willing to sell it to me for less. Again any help is appreciated.
