Guest Smudgetastic Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Hi all I'm new to all this and was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on how to connect my Holux 321 model bluetooth to my new XDA Exec? I have the GPS icon in the settings connection tab, but when I pair the XDA to the reciever the connection lasts for about 10 seconds only. I have tried to connect whilst in Tom Tom (5) but when I choose 'other bluetooth reciever' , the next screen says to connect to the device and I've tried every permutation possible without success. I have changed the baud rate to 9600 after advice from a friend suggested that this was the correct rate rather than the default 4800 but still no joy! I went to the retailer of the receiver who has suggested this site might provide some help. Any information greatfully recieved!!!
Guest Pondrew Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Ok, first of all I'm gonna have to move this thread to the Pocket PC Help and Advice section as the Exec isn't a Smartphone. Second, although I'm not familiar with your model of GPS (although a work colleague has one if I remember correctly) the problem with TomTom is likely that you need to rename the Bluetooth device. This is because the way TomTom works it will only recognise GPS devices with 'GPS' in their name. If not then are you sure you're pairing with the device correctly? I've gotta say that I think the GPS icon in Connection Settings is a red herring as I've got TomTom to work with many different bluetooth GPS units on different Pocket PCs... Why? Because somehow since moving to my new department I've become the problem solver for all things Pocket PC, especially TomTom Navigator. I never go near that GPS icon and think it's disabled on most Pocket PCs for a good reason (ie, it's only needed for units with built in GPS)!
Guest Confucious Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Welcome to the forum smudgetastic - Have you got the laest version of Navigator (5.21 I believe?) That solved a lot of connection issues.
