Guest 123412341234 Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 (edited) HI guys, i have a problem with tcmp...I have encoded files using different methods (nero, pocketdivxencoder) with the lowest settings to the highest. I always have the same problem: When in a video, there is a fast action( a car race for ex or bruce lee fighting) there are some kind of lines (horizontal and vertical) that appears for a moment... IT FLICKERS:::: Is it normal? What should i do ? Edited June 14, 2006 by 123412341234
Guest martin Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 It sounds like poor interlacing on the original film. I had the same lines problem from a particular DVD and had to use a de-interlacing filter in VirtualDub to improve the picture. I can't remember the actual filter and settings as it was a some time ago. There is a de-interlacing option in Pocket DivXEncoder but I don't know how well that one works. Lots of info about de-interlacing on the net like these. http://www.100fps.com/ http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/interlace-test.htm In case you want to try VirtualDub I posted some info here. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?s=&showtop...ndpost&p=705967 Hope it helps :)
Guest 123412341234 Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Ok thx very much...Ill try and tell u if this trick works, but the thing is that this problem happens for every vid including original trailers for example that i didnt reencode.
Guest martin Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 You shouldn't get flickering on all movies :) What model of phone are you using ? One improvement you can make when encoding is to pre-rotate the movie i.e code to 320x240 and then rotate to 240x320. In TCPMP you can then disable rotation as it's not needed. This should help the playback of movies especially during fast moving scenes :) In the Virtualdub settings that I posted, I have set the rotation in the Video filters.
Guest 123412341234 Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I have a qtek 8300 (= imate sp5m) .... I dont understand why its hapning, if i give u a small sample (2-3 mb), could try if you get flickering too? THANKS: :)
Guest RSkillz Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 (edited) Hmmm, I have no flickering whatsoever on my Qtek 8310. (see my guide how I encode movies) What phone do you have and which version of TCPMP + plugins are you using? I'm using: tcpmp.smartphone.0.71.exe ffmpeg.smartphone.0.71.exe ac3.smartphone.0.71.exe aac.smartphone.0.66.exe Have you tried playing a small file (a scene that causes flickering) from the memory of your phone? Maybe it's a problem with your storagecard? I have a 2gb sandisk installed. Edited June 15, 2006 by RSkillz
Guest 123412341234 Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 (edited) Hi i am using these versions too(soft+plugins)... : I reencoded with all methods : nero-pocketdivxencoder-vdub........... TCPMP Settings: Smooth Zoom (only 50%) = On Dither = Off Quality = Normal Video driver = Raw FrameBuffer. Normal buffer size = 576 Microdrive Mode = Off Less Rotation tearing (slower) = Off ...BUT...My 8310 is overclocked tho... running at 240 Mhz, allmost forgot about that :)
Guest 123412341234 Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Can you just tell me how to overclock it? I have the ovc.02 file but it doesnt run (I/o map problem or something like dat...) And with the overclocking, is the battery life reduced?

And with the overclocking, is the battery life reduced? I'm using Tornado PowerControl with OmapClock utility. Does it reduce battery life? Yup...probably some, but it's still good enough for me and the speed increase is noticeable. It's easiest if give me your email address, I'll send you the files (fully configured) and a short discription where to put the files. If you want to check it out for yourself pls check here: http://www.modaco.com/Tornado-PowerControl-t237427.html Edited June 15, 2006 by RSkillz
