Help Please! Qtek 8100 in Canada

Hi there, I am not sure if this has been asked and/or answered, but I have a Qtek 8100 here in Canada. The phone is great, but much of the phone is still in Chinese. I would love to upgrade the Rom, but every Rom file I try and use (T-mobile, Qtek German) doesn't allow me to update for some reason. A screen comes up on the phone with three bars and typhoon with some numbers and letters. I would really like to get an English Rom on here but there is no suppliers in Canada that support this phone. Please help. Thanks!

its the same as a tmobile SDA music. a rom update can be found HERE

its in german but hey you can just change it to english in the settings :)

Hi there and thanks. Unfortunately, it still says it is not possible. Here is what is on the phones display:

Typhoon

The PC then says that it cannot update this Smartphone and quits. Help please!

ok using this registry editor attached change the following values

HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1

HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 40

then go HERE and download SPV services. use the CID tool to change your CID to 11111111

run the rom update utility again.

[EDIT] If you want WM5 on it. PM me and ill tell you how to do it :)

Stupid question...how do I use the regedit program? I put it onto my phone, but don't know how to access it to run it.

hmmm you may have to downgrade your bootloader to allow you to flash the new rom. go HERE to download the original ROM for the c500. extract the ROM by using winRAR. right click on the rom update and click extract to... and extract the files. make sure your phone is plugged into the usb and switched on. download the typhoonnbftools and run the exe. it should say "No file loaded, immediate flash available" then go to file > open and the find the nbf file you extracted from the orange rom. then where it says SPL right click and select 'Emergency Flash'. click ok throught all the warnings etc and it should test immediate flash and then flash the bootloader. then change your CID of your phone to 11111111 if you havent already done so by using the spv services (see above post for details) run the rom update utility again :)

If it doesnt work keep goin on at me and ill find a solution for you eventually :)
