Guest b1ackb1rd Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 Greetings All, my much loved c500 has packed in and I'm after some help please. The on/off switch started to lose it's click a few weeks ago and now ... nothing. I've had the fascia off and I've discovered that the little block that the switch acts upon is loose . I placed it back in it's lugs on the motherboard but the phone still won't power on. I get a charging light ... but nothing else. Is it dead, or is there another way of switching this little chap on ?
Guest Dr Who Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 Is the switch soldered directly onto the circuit board or does it 'fly' off on wires?
Guest b1ackb1rd Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 (edited) It's a little plastic box about 5 x 5 x 2 mm with thin metal facing on one side and two tiny moulded spikes on the other and the 'nipple' part on the top facing the underside of the switch. It sits directly on the motherboard from what I can see. *update - it'll carge from the mains adaptor but not from the USB cable Edited June 14, 2006 by b1ackb1rd
Guest Dr Who Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 Don't suppose you could solder across the pins could you? Bit drastic, but should at least mean it is permanently on. I am assuming that you have tried poking the 'nipple' (!!) to see if you can get it to make the contact?

I got the local mobile shop monkey to have a bash at the soldering, and much to HIS suprise the phone started up with NO LOSS OF DATA in the last 3 months. Impressive or what??? The only downside is that my brand new 6233 is a bit boring by comparison and is being forgotten :D
