Qtek 8010 Firmware Or I-mate sp3 firmware for C500?

Which firmware do you think is better for the orange spv c500, the i-mate sp3 firmware or the Qtek 8010 firmware? I would like to know which is better as i need to update my phone

Hi! I have an i-mate sp3! I updated some time ago to the latest spv c500 rom, because of the updates (some bugs fixed, windows media player 10, etc.) After a while i found out that i-mate released a newer rom (also bugs fixed, wmp10, etc.).

I registerd my phone at the i-mate website in order to download the rom upgrade (this is necessary for official download), but because the spv rom was newer (the release date was more recent than i-mate`s) i conuldn`t flash the spv rom. I tried everything with NO succes.

I spoke to someone who provides online help on the i-mate site and they said that i-mate will never release a newer version of the rom, that the one on the site is the last one! So now i`m stuck with the spv rom!

That`s not so bad, because overall, it`s the same!

My point is that if you install the newest spv rom, you won`t be able t install after that the newest I-mate rom. In this "equation" the Qtek has its place, but i don`t exactley know where because of the release date of their latest rom.

Just something to take into consideration before you decide! Good Luck! Hope you`ll recive good advice, and i`m sure this will happen because this is MoDaCo :)

Hi again! I realise my previous post doesn`t cover the answer to your question. I tried to find out for you what the caractheristics of each rom are, but on the qtek site you have access to this sort of information, only if you have one of their devices (IMEI check to register), but i can provide you with the caractheristics of the i-mate rom, as i am registerd on their site (also IMEI check):

The main improvements from the updated Operating System, 1.5.33.11, are:

Multimedia:

Windows Media Player 10 for Smartphone.

File beaming over Bluetooth

It is now possible to beam files over Bluetooth using the file manager

Improved radio functionality:

Call audio quality is improved

Speakerphone function is now included in the menu for each call.

The user can choose after how many seconds a call is sent through to voicemail.

Sometimes the phone would say "Unable to answer call" if the user tried to answer the phone while the call was being forwarded to voicemail. This functionality has been corrected.

USSD service support is upgraded

Ringtones

mp3 ringtones can now be used.

Updated MMS:

Input phone numbers in "To" field using T9 "abc" mode, MMS cannot be sent while last number underlined.

After capturing picture, the device might go to album or other photo review option instead of returning to MMS client this has been corrected.

Sometimes, after capturing a video for inserting into an MMS, the wait cursor would cycle and it would not be possible to insert the MMS. This has been corrected.

Updated T9

10 x 10 symbol table introduced.

Launching symbol table could delete words. This has been corrected.

When browsing to the web pages with text input field and keying in words, the very first letter might appear as a number. This has been corrected.

Sometimes requesting a capital letter would result in a lower case letter being displayed. This has been corrected.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth serial port functionality has been improved. Users will need to install devices that use the serial port (GPS for Tomtom, Destinator, Copilot etc.) in a new way and these instructions will be posted on the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.

Java

Updated Java client to latest version.
