power management

I've been posting in relation to a problem that I had concerning the 8310's power management but nobody seems to have an answer. But I have some further developments.

ordinarily the phone has three powerstates: "backlight on", "backlight off" and "screen off" (correct me if i'm wrong). when my phone goes to screen off for extended periods the phone refuses to go back to backlight on mode (ie full power). I know the phone is still on becuase the led light still flashes green but if I call the phone it will not ring.

I then tweaked the registry at the following locations HKEY LM/system/currentcontrolset/control/power/state ->screenoff,suspend,unattended,useridle by deleting the folder that begins with "{EB91C7..." I understand this to be the power-manageable display folder. The effect of this is that the phone when idle goes to "backlight off" mode but not to "screen off" mode but more importantly, since the screen display never times out or goes off, the phone works fine. The problem with this is that it drains the battery in 3/4 day because the screen is always on.

I would appreciate any tips, help, insight that anyone can offer.
