Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Someone actually mailed me today to ask how to enable 'Torch Mode' on the SPV... so I showed em. Announcing my first ever C++ app... Torch for Microsoft SmartPhone Just copy it directly to your start menu, or copy it to another location (e.g. SD) and create a shortcut. Enjoy! ;) P
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 This has to be the best app yet ;) And it only started off as a joke
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Reckon Orange will digitally sign it? ;) P
Guest DJHope Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Hahaha! Thats quite funny! However not being funny but it could be useful IF it stayed on, it needs a bug fix ;) DJ Hope
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 That will be coming shortly... REALLY! ;) P
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 We could use it as a work around for the media player back light bug ;)
Guest Emad Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 I always thought the best app for the palm was the mirror app, this reminds me of that ;)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Maybe I could add a mirror mode... All black screen? ;) P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Wasn't something like this asked for ages ago for WMP (as previously said) and games? ;)
Guest crimminsky Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 LOL....I hope you've posted the source (2 x AA batteries ;) )
Guest madu Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 WOW This thing ROCKS!! ;) Who needs TennisAddict/Interstellar/Doom?? Mirror?? Include a magnifying one too!! How about the camera?? With a smaaaall delay...
Guest Will Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Is this the first app SPECIFICALLY designed for smartphones?? Paul i have a problem with your first app. In the true style of 'Hello World' applications, it is broken. problem1 : it does not say hello world anywhere! problem2 : it performs a semi useful service  But the icon is great! Will
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Hehehe, I could add 'Hello World', or I could add 'Instructions: Point phone at object to be illuminated'. ;) P
Guest muude Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 How about an app that overheats the battery, thus making it a small heater for when your hands are feeling cold...
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 As if the battery isn't bad enough as it is ;) P
Guest madu Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 I see we're on for some great software now that uncert has been done!! ;)
Guest lsuhe Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Does this 'app' only work on unlocked SPV? and what exactly does it do as I've tried running it from AE and it doesn't work. Chris
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Does this 'app' only work on unlocked SPV? and what exactly does it do as I've tried running it from AE and it doesn't work. Chris It should only work on an unlocked phone and all it does is turn on the backlight for the normal time  shame it does not keep it on until you press off  "Tourch mode" is a very old and longstanding joke but it really does have it's uses ;)
Guest Deathrow Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 After a while the whole screen turns off. not only backlight. The program is running at the time. plz help.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 After a while the whole screen turns off. not only backlight. The program is running at the time. plz help. Thats because you have the screen saver turned to off in power management, that's why the screen goes blank  Like I said in the last post, this program was only created for a joke ;)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Altho I do plan to add the useful 'backlight stay on feature', if only I can work out how to do it! P
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 What ??? tourch V2? How can you beat the origional? But seriously that is what we need, then who would care about the Orange update?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Doh! A response from Neil Enns [MS] regarding backlight persistence: 'There isn't a good way to do this with Smartphone 2002, unfortunately. We're looking at ways to make this better in future releases.' No Torch V2 ;) P
Guest MBoden Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Well he does write that there isn't a good way to do it, but wont you settle for a bad way ? ;-) there MUST be a way !!
