Guest MasterOfScorpions Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 hi! i have a SPV C550. Phone frozen up at %47 during rom update process and now device opening to a white screen and nothings comes up... what can i do? thanks
Guest mini_man Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Theres nothing you can do unfortunatley. You could send it off too orange if you still have there free warrenty and see if they notice. By the sounds of it the C550 is not supposed to be flashed with this rom causing unfinished upgrade and broken phone. The software inbedded into the phone is now corrupt so a cold boot isnt availible. Sam
Guest Tech Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Most likely warranty has been cancelled because you flashed an unofficial supported ROM by Orange. You may need to cough up some $$$ for them to replace it, even if you have insured the phone.
Guest mini_man Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Well fluffcat know something about making a jtag or something rather? it lets you edit the phones contents w/o activesync
Guest Pondrew Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 So you tried to use a rom update for the i-mate SP4m with your SPV C550? Didn't think the i-mate SP4m was ever released and so amazed that there would even BE a rom update!?! Also I've got a bad feeling that the SP4m although identical looking to the SPV C550 was actually the same as the WM5 XDA Phone and not an HTC Hurricane. As it features a different processor the roms aren't compatible. This would explain why the update seems to have killed your bootloader. Anyway, are you able to get the device to the bootloader screen? If so you can rerun a suitable rom for the SPV C550 (HTC Hurricane). If not, well, according to this thread you're out of luck (scroll down to Fluffcat1s post).
Guest Tech Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 perhaps a typo? maybe it shouldve been sp5m instead of 4m?
Guest Pondrew Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Quite possible tech. Either way I suspect the device is screwed :) Can't stress enough that you shouldn't install roms not intended for your device! It's the quickest way to a nice shiny paperweight. :)
