XDA Mini S won't connect to wifi

I am close to sending this XDA back. I quite like it but it is steadfastly refusing to connect to any wifi network. My laptop and pda (Dell X50v) both connect to my work and home networks without fuss.

I can even hold the XDA within a few feet of the router and it shows an intermittent signal or no signal at all (when the laptop and pda show full strength).

I am beginning to think that this is more than a setup problem.

Any ideas?

Go into wifi settings (look in connection manager under settings) choose power mode. Then set to 'best performance' (remember to switch off when finished)

No, this didn't make a difference, but I have found that I can connect to my home wifi if I deactivate all encryption on it. IE didn't work though (but that's probably another issue).
