I have ran into a strange problem... Several years ago I aquired a Dell Axium Pocket PC, installed a wifi card in it, and attempted to setup the email client built in.... My email is through my internet provider which is also my telephone co. After hours of frustration I finaly gave up. No matter what I did, when I tried to connect to the pop3 server I continuiously got a prompt for my password (as if it was not correct) and it never would connect.

I went as far as to completely delete my pop3 account from my pc and re-do it. (using what I was certain was the correct settings and password) Those settings worked on my pc but not the PPC.

In the last few months I got a motorola mpx220 smart phone.... tried to set up the pop3 account with it.... guess what.... same problem. Prompts me for my password over and over.

Here is the funny thing. I tried in vain for hours to get that pop3 account to work with no luck. A few days later, still frustrated, set up my work email account (pop3 also) and suprise!!!.... It worked. (My work email is through a different provider)

Anyone have any idea whats goin on here?

I have successfully got my home email to work on every PC I tried it on, but NO portable devices....

My work email works on both.

I talked to a tech guy at my phone company and they say there is several employees using smart phones to check their emails, so I must be putting my password in wrong... I KNOW MY PASSWORD, I set up my pc correctly, and I log in to the web portal ALL THE TIME with the correct password....

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

have you tried looking at the pop3 settings for incoming and outgoing servers. your pop3 service provider should supply you with these (and they're not the same for all) for example gmail uses pop.gmail.com at port 995 (or something similar).

I'm pretty sure the error message goes something like server connection cannot be established, check your account name or password. this has been the trouble with my pop3 accounts before I got them to work
