Guest Brins0 Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 I'm pioneering a new method of inducing a repeating reminder for messages. Since i couldn't get that program to work which is meant to do it for you... You may have noticed in the "Sounds And Notificaions" control panel, that there is a "Repeat" option which is grayed out in most cases. I have discovered a little reg hack which will set this to "on", hence inducing a repeat for the reminder. Open your registry editor of choice, and point it to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\A877D65B-239C-47a7-9304-0d347F580408" and set the "Options" value to "29". This will enable "Play Sound", "Repeat", "Display Message On Screen" and "Flash Light For..." (You can change these options in the control panel afterwards, "29" is just the setting I use.) When you receive a message from this point on, the reminder will repeat. NOTES: This can be applied to ANY reminder in the "Notifications" folder. SIDE EFFECTS: None DIFFICULTY: Easy PROBLEMS/BUGS: See Below I've noticed that although this causes the notification to repeat, it does not repeat how you would expect it to. It repeats every 10 seconds for the first 5 repeats, then once about 30 seconds later, then every after that, until the device suspends (goes into standby.) If anyone can work out why it repeats in such a pattern, please inform me. But this is a start, and if you miss it initially, due to another sound, you have another chance to hear it. Hope this is of some use to people...
Guest Tech Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Thanks for that I am guessing this is by design as constant reminding would be annoying so its coming from a usability point of view as well. it is in a sense the same way it would behave like for example the calander reminders, you have options to notify you within days/minutes of your next reminder - similar sort of thing there maybe a way round it, i dont know. :)
Guest Brins0 Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 It would be nice if someone would develop a SIMPLE program that did nothing but sit in the tray and repeated reminders for selected items. Remind every 5 minutes while the device is on, every 30 mins while suspended, if you catch my drift. I'd be more than willing to help with what little programming expertise I have, and also in testing.
Guest chucky.egg Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Isn't that what Don't Forget does? I'm sure I saw a thread called something like that which did repeating reminders
