Guest team_edition Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Hi, I've had a good search on the fourm but can't find something that I know I read about when the big firmware release came out in March which is a way to move across your saved SMS texts (in my case in my Drafts folder) from one device to another or before and after a firmware upgrade. I'm just replacing my SP5m with an SP5 and want to move them across. Can anyone remind me of the thread of the file that I need to copy across? Many thanks. Richard.

Back up from one device and restore to anohter using a freeware app that i always rant about called SPStudio...it should do the trick
Guest team_edition Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Thanks for the reply but I was really just wanting to back up the SMS and not copy every thing else over (in a restore kind of way) in case I simply move across some old stuff that needed clearing out! I understand there is a file that I can simply drag and drop across but I don't recall what the filename or location was. Anyone else remember please?

Guest nevawlkalone Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Screen shot example You can either export them as a back up file or as a text file!
Guest team_edition Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Sorry, I misunderstood. And does it back up and restore your SMS perfectly (name, number and everything seamlessly carried across) and you can then carry on using the new phone as normal?

Yep i have done it plenty of times, usually after a hard reset as i have a tendancy to screw the registry messing with it and tweaking etc...so yeah give it ago!
Guest team_edition Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Thanks. I've searched on Google and all the links for it come up with a Chines page of text and no ability to download it. Have you got a working link to the download please? Thanks for your assistance.

Guest team_edition Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Thanks. I notice in the Read Me that it says it doesn't support long SMS which just about all mine are. Have you noticed whether it will back up and restore ok long SMS messages?

Dont seem to have had any problems with them, i have moved messegaes three pages long before now but all i can suggest is to try it and see what happens!
Guest team_edition Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 I'm trying it now and all it seems to get is my Outlook Emails and not the SMS from the phone. It has it's ActiveSync connection and says it's importing 53 texts but they're actually 53 of the emails in my inbox and nothing to do with the 20 or so texts in there! Any ideas?!
