Guest bedroomboy Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Hello all, Joe n00b here, fresh from eBay with a spanking new Orange M500. YAYY :) well... almost :) i've spent some time skimming the site for advice on my particular issue, and can't find what I need, so I signed up to ask you fine knowledgable people if you can help me. I bagged a GPS unit the same day and have bought TOMTOM 5. I've charged up the GPS unit and am trying to get the M500 to "pair it up" (i believe is the term); except, all I can get from the M500 is: ERROR There is no Bluetooth hardware installed on this device Now, I cant find anything on the web for this error, and I cant find it in the manual, I couldnt even get a match on these forums, so I need to know. - A - Is the phone simply borked (I bought a damaged dummy) - B - Is it asking for software from the Orange CD somehow (like a driver) - C - Is it just asking for the GPS device ;) Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp ! [ ] TURN ON BLUETOOTH - not selectable [ ] MAKE DEVICE DISCOVERABLE - not selectable On the DEVICES tab, there is "NEW..." but clicking that brings the same error. Under "BLUETOOTH SETTINGS" both COM ports are selectable, as is AUTHENTICATION. Beyond that, all I can tell you is the red line going through the icon (bottom right of the today screen) is no longer there. Am I missing somthing so n00b i'll never live it down, or have I been taken for a turd by another ebay scammer looking to shift damaged goods. Any help and advice appreciated - Thanks.
Guest LSmith4285 Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Have you tried a hard reset? I would also check you have the latest version of the ROM and if not I would install that.
Guest bedroomboy Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 (edited) The phone has been hard reset yes... what does the rom version have anything to do with it ? the phone is suposed to have bluetooth as standard isn't it ? I see what you're saying, I just don't get "why" - it's taken 2 weeks to get it all setup with the software n' stuff, i'd avoid a hard reset like the plague now if possible. :) *EDIT UPDATE:: Pulled the battery for 10 secs on the advice of Orange tech suppor - it worked. Now if I can onl get it paired with this QStars GPS (which just keeps blinking at me), the phone saw it though. so maybe an issue with the GPS unit (contacting their suuport line next). Guest Confucious Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 (edited) Have you got TT 5.21? If not, get it. Edited June 21, 2006 by Confucious
Guest bedroomboy Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Hi there :) yes, it's 5.21 - I havent seen any previous versions however so i'm unaware of any improvements over previous versions. I have tried to call the support line of the guy who sold me the GPS and I have emailed several times without success. Basicly, the phone sees it, the GPS unit however just keeps blinking its blue light - trying to pair up and for whatever reason, not quite making it. If anyone knows about them, it's one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...me=STRK:MEWN:IT Thanks.
Guest Confucious Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 5.21 is the latest version which was supposed to fix the problems of pairing with non TT BT receivers... Judging from the number of threads on the subject though, it hasn't! Try looking here -> http://www.modaco.com/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=725379
Guest bedroomboy Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 (edited) Well something kicked in, because i'm connected :) !! Now then, to find a way to stop it dialing the GPRS to get traffic updates every 5 minutes.... At Edited June 22, 2006 by bedroomboy
