Guest flodis79 Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 I'd like to try to use my broadband connection on the smartphone via a bluetooth dongle on the computer... How do I go about to do this?
Guest mini_man Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Its dead simple! You can do this via active sync and a BT connection. Set it up from here http://www.modaco.com/Bulletproof-Guide-Al...th-t119341.html and then once thats done just in connections on your mob set everything to automatic!
Guest flodis79 Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Thanks, but that guide doesn't really have the same screens as the latest ActiveSync. I just tried to put an incoming port COM6 on the phone the the incoming port choice is greyed out on the phone... The COM4 is chosen all the time as outgoing port on the pc and I cannot choose COM6 or COM7 at all on the pc.. I'm stuck now... Tried to move the bluetooth dongle between all the usb ports on the pc but no change. And I don't have a menu choice in telephone and modem settings in the control panel on the pc where I can go to bluetooth modem setting and choose preferred COM port..
Guest flodis79 Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 (edited) I have tried everything..... Cannot change the outgoing COM port name in the computer to com6 or com7 for the serial bluetooth link... Help!! Edited June 21, 2006 by flodis79
Guest Crispy Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 The COM4 is chosen all the time as outgoing port on the pc and I cannot choose COM6 or COM7 at all on the pc.. I'm stuck now... I think that could be because the system might have it reserved. As far as I know there is no way to get around this, but I sincerly hope I'm mistaken. However, my logic tells me that this should'n matter really. If you have COM port X assigned to the bluetooth partnership on your pc and COM port Y on your phone, then setting activesync (on the pc) to COM port X should give you a connection to COM port Y on the phone. However, I don't think this is the problem, it more the problem of getting the phone to actually try and initiate a connection to the pc (which is the only way it works aparently) and this I haven't been able to do either...
