To make DirectPush work over wirless WAN (GPRS, EVDO etc) you need your Exchange server to be running Exchange 2003 SP2, your IT folks to have made Exchange Active Sync accessible, usually through a reverse proxy like ISA and your mailbox to be enabled for wireless access (a setting in the Active Directory).

Then on the device you need to configure ActiveSync for the servername (usually the external interface of the ISA box, like mobile.yourcompany.com), your accont, domain and password, usually require SSL and set the schedule to sync as items arrive.

Once you have all of that you should be doing directpush based sync. The configuration for doing this on an internal company network over wifi is similar but would not require the reverse proxy and you would connect to the Exchange front end server instead.
