Guest KaZoN Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Hi I recently got a QTek 8310 for its abiity to be able to push mail as it arrives to my phone. I got it setup up to push the mail easily, but I received quite a shock in my monthly bill. I have 75 pages of data charges on my Vodafone bill all for internet usage!!!! Is anyone else using push mail and if so is this kind of data transfer normal for the QTek with sync items as they arrive and to only download .5kB of the email. With these settigs I would have needed to download something like 38000 emails to achieve the data transfer on my bill. I have received 308 emails in the past month making the data transfer 154KB. I use WIFI for browsing the web so I cant explian the data transfer unless there is a connection handshake between the server and phone which sends a certain ammount of data to my phone every time I have previously owened a MPX 200 & MPX 220 both set to sync with exchange and they have never had anything like this terms of data connections. Is it possible to see the GPRS counters on the 8310 as you can with other smartphones? Also canyou push email over a WIFI connection as opposed to GPRS? Any help or connects greatly appreciated.
Guest flodis79 Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 (edited) Do you use mail2web.com for your push? 154kb is not that much for 208 emails - I heard cases with a traffic of several tens of mb's for 100-200 emails. Edited June 20, 2006 by flodis79
