Guest ratchet_monkey Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 Hello there, I have just bought a bluetooth dongle and cannot transfur files to my device. I assumed that you could connect with active sync without the use of the cable, hence why i purchased the dongle. I am running windows XP service pack 1, hence why i am not using the built in bluetooth service. The bluetooth dongle came with some software on a minidisk which i installed onto my pc. The software is "blue soleil" This software does not allow me to send files to and from my phone to my pc. I was wondering if anyone could help me? Thanks
Guest mini_man Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 heya! ok to set it up with active sync you need to follow these steps. MAKE SURE! You delete pairings with the pc if you have made any before starting this. 1.) Make sure all software and dongle is installed. 2.) Restart. 3.) Open active sync and then in connection settings select Com 6. 4.) On the phone open active sync and select set up partnership (i think) and do what the windows ask you too e.g pairing codes etc. 5.) Restart phone and pc. 6.) On phone select connect via bt in active sync. It should now connect to active sync and all will be happy :) Sam

Guest Confucious Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 Why not just install SP2 and make your life a lot easier and safer?
Guest ratchet_monkey Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 Why not just install SP2 and make your life a lot easier and safer? Ive had problems with SP2, one being my pc randomly restarting upon SP2 installation, another is some of my software does not seem to work running sp2, so ive decided to keep SP1
Guest Confucious Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 You are leaving yourself wide open - all the security fixes released by MS don't work with SP1
Guest telugite Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 You are leaving yourself wide open - all the security fixes released by MS don't work with SP1 microsoft sends all security paches for SP1 also
Guest ratchet_monkey Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 Ok, so ive come up with another problem :) I can get interaction between my pc and my phone using bluetooth on the handset and a dongle, however when they connect i just get the little green circle from active sync constntly spinning and not allowing me into "my smartphone"
Guest ratchet_monkey Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 Try switching off your firewall Worked a treat, just locating firewall settings so i dont have to keep shutting my firewall down everytime i want to access my phone... Cheers :) :)
Guest mini_man Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 The new active sync 4.2 beta seams to have fixed this problem. It will work with the fire wall on. @ Confucious SP2 doesnt recognise all dongles, and I find using bluesoleil alot! easier.
