Guest RobertCeuppens Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 Hi guys, I'm looking for some software which I can enter all my customers details. Some of it is sensitive so it needs to be encrypted and passworded in case I lose the device or someone has access to it. It has to be able to have various fields like all the usual addresses and phone numbers and also fields for account numbers and access codes. Any idea which is the best prog for this? Cheers, Rob.
Guest chucky.egg Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 I use CodeWallet from DeveloperOne.com You can create your own Forms with various types of fields. You can also import data from databases etc (via CSV files). It takes a little trial and error, but one you've got it the way you want it's easy to repeat for subsequent imports. You can also very easily sync wallets between the network and devices. There are some limitations though: You can only add 10 attachments to any wallet The import function doesn't import CodeWallet's own export (so you can't move data between wallets) You can't import data directly into a form that you've designed You can only sync each device with a single network/PC folder - all Wallets on your device will be copied to/from this folder which can be an issue if you have multpile users and devices If you disconnect the device midway through a sync it leaves a zero byte file on your device. This makes it appear, at first glance, to have worked when in fact it failed. This is still the only 3rd party app that I use every day.

Guest RobertCeuppens Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 (edited) Thanks chucky.egg, Code Wallet is ideal. Just one thing though, do you have any idea how to make a phone number field clickable so it dials straight from the program? It does it in the sample wallet but when I use a customised phone number field it doesn't do it... Cheers, Rob. aha! Don't worry...just found it! :) Edited June 27, 2006 by RobertCeuppens
Guest fraser Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I've used CodeWallet for ages, it's good. Keep periodic backups though if you can, I've lost data in a sync once or twice. In CodeWallet 2006 on the PPC (and 2005+ on the PC I think), you can edit the forms in the form editor. If you set the field type to phone number, it'll be clickable. You'll likely find the custom forms useful. Interesting use for it.
