SPV C550 Camera problem.

After pressing the Camera button (or going in via the menu) i get a msg

saying "Unable to initialize camera: Failed to set up the camera device"

Needless to say i cannot get into the camera or video modes. anyone any

idea how to sort this problem?

Any ideas welcome.

Have you tried rebooting the phone?

I have seen this before on other phones but not the C550 before.

If rebooting doesn't work, then try restoring manufacturer's defaults. Could be a corrupt driver.

im fairly (very!) new to this so any chance of a wee heads up

A soft reset is simply powering the phone off then on again.

A hard reset will wipe the phone back to it's factory settings, so you would need to enter all your contacts etc and reinstall any software you may have.

A hard reset is the last thing to try.

Power off the phone and unplug it from the computer.

1. Press and hold soft1 and soft2 keys.

2. Press and hold power button for around 1 to 1.5 seconds. Release power button. Keep hold soft1 and soft2 keys.

3. Later, screen shoould show instructions to ask user to press '0' key to reset to factory default.

4. Press '0' within the timeout period, which is only several seconds only.

5. If no instruction is shown on the screen, repeat steps 1 to 4.

The timing is sensitive.

Tried both. still the same message coming up.

Any more ideas? or is it a send away job?

If the HArd reset did not work then the problem has to be a hardware issue.

You have two options, 1, give Orange a call and ask for a warranty repair. (you may have to contact HTC Europe for this)

Or 2, Take the phone apart and see if you have a loose connection.

I think i should just send it away. Prob never work again if

i take it apart!!
