Guest DisasterBUSE Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) Ok there is something wrong with my phone that I would need to put soo much pressure on the buttons that I am afraid i would end up damaging the screen. It started with the top right while the the top left was ok. Now I cannot get into my start menu, send new text messages or anything else associated with these keys. Now heres the kicker. I am using an AT&T sim card so therefore the phone is unlocked. Would I need to reset settings before I send back? Do I need to undo changes I made to the phone? Am I S.O.L? What can I do? Well, I would definitely do a hard reset if I were you before you send it back. As far as relocking it, here's a trick I did with 2 2125's I had to send back - reflash it with the ROM upgrade on the HTC America website (search this forum for links to the ROM). It will restore everything to factory settings, including any locked/unlocked status. Then send it back no sweat. I never got hassled for either phone I returned, even after having unlocked them, put the I-Mate Rom on them, etc. BTW, the ROM replacement will do a hard reset for you, but if you just want to hard-reset it without installing the different ROM, turn the phone off, hold down the two softkeys under the screen, and turn the phone back on. This will reset the phone back to factory settings for you. It does not reset any SIM lock/unlock status though, you should use the ROM upgrade for that.

I was thinking about doing that but wanted to make sure. Glad to know you did it without them charging you a bundle (or anything at all). I wanted to do the one you mentioned later BUT my soft keys are out. I just got the new one in today. Can i find the directions to unlock my new phone in the "everything you need to know" thread? Thanks

Guest DisasterBUSE Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 yeah, it's the second entry on that "Everything you need to know..." thread. Sorry but I wasn't specific enough. I need to sim unlock and not for the apps. I can't believe I did it on my first one and cannot find it this time around.

Try the links on this thread: http://www.modaco.com/Popular-SIM-unlockin...ds-t235872.html they are for the Typhoon (SMT5600, C500, etc.) but they should work the same for the 2125, as I recall.

Or, you can Google for "SIM-unlock SMT5600" and you should find a really good explanation by Eric Selberg -I'd post the link but I'm not sure if it's allowed. :)
