upgrade time- what do i do?

I've always kept abreast of the smartphone world until I got married a couple of months ago. Since then I have not had the time to read up on the latest smartphone/ppc phone devices out in the market.

I want to upgrade my orange C600 to something A LOT better and even possibly leave orange.

Can anyone advise me as to what I should buy and the network I should join? I am a heavy phone user that would very much like to have a STABLE wifi enabled phone or ppc (as long as the ppc isn't huge).

Personally I am waiting for the Vario 2 (HTC Hermes) from T-Mobile. As soon as that drops, its bye-bye Orange, hello 3G unlimited net access. The Vario 2 will be wifi enabled (not that I will use wifi if I have unlimited 3g data).
