Guest vwilsonuk Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 Hi guys, Two questions - first, most importantly, does anyone know where the SMS messages are stored on WM5? Are they in the file system somewhere, on the storage card, or on the SIM? The reason? Well that leads nicely onto the second question. A while ago I had my phone in my (soft fabric) handbag, and got absolutely hammered on by heavy rain on my way to the car. Screen went a bit funny, then the backlight flickered and eventually went out. The screen distortion in the lcd has now fixed itself (within about 6 hours it was fine) but the backlight still hasn't recovered - it intermittently fixes itself and then fails again. Contact HTC who advised that because its water damage chances are the repair would cost as much as the handset (they have to replace all components that have been in contact with the water whether they work or not, as they provide warranty on their fixes). So today I'm going to try and buy a replacement phone (dependent on stock) on a PAYG tariff and just suck up the cost, might see if I can get the old one repaired and then flog it on ebay if cost effective. But since I'm posting here - has anyone else had any similar experiences with their C600 w.r.t. the water damage? Has anyone else's phone recovered? Cheers for all input on this and the SMS location question (I want to move my sms messages to the new handset, you see!) V
Guest Susuwub Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) You can get your SMS messages using software from http://www.jeyo.com/extender.asp :) Edited June 28, 2006 by Susuwub

V i dropped my c600 into a sink full of water, it instantly switched on an wouldnt work again. i took battery sim etc oput and kept in breezy room, 12 hours later it switched on but cod see water under the screen so left it for longer then in worked fine. however, small bit of water got on my screen as it messed it up again for another 122 hours. it was pressing 9 without me pressing it so to speak. so in 2 occasions my phone has dried out and worked properly again...hope u get same luck!!!
