Hello all,

I have a T-Mobile SDA and it has been unlocked whereby I can run all sorts of different programs on it with no problem. I seem to be running out of memory so I wanted to delete some of the extra ringtones I don't use. I found them in the Windows directory. However, everytime I try to delete one (for example: Jig.mid, Gossip.mid) it gives me an error saying it is read-only, write-protected, or in-use. I've read posts where others have gotten rid of all the unnecessary things to get more useable memory.

Any help or explanation is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

why dont you install your apps on storage card rather than fiddling with the files? :)

My apps are stored in a 2gb card. My email (except for the volume information) are also stored in the card. PIE cache is also in the card. Temp files are also there. Essentially, I just wanted to get rid of the things I did not need, but I can't delete some of the files in the Windows directory.

Currently, my available storage is 6.55 MB out of a Total Storage space of 19.93 MB. That's from my "Settings/About" menu.

get a bigger storage card lol.

I doubt that those files to remove (images) would free up much space but you never know.

Have you tried to check them non read only using the file manager/explorer on the mobile device and then removing it?

Yeah, I doubt that removing a few negligible items would make a great addition to my available memory, but I am willing to let go a lot of things in the windows directory (.mid, .jpg, .gif, and others) that add up to about 1.5 to 2 MB. That would at least bump me up near 10 MB of available memory. I just really wish the Outlook volume information could be stored on the SD card.

The file manager won't let me uncheck "In ROM" for the files I want to delete.

Thanks though.

I agree! I would like to get rid of all the extra crap. I recently downladed Windows Live Beta and that is taking up allot of my phone memory but the program is too good to let go.
