Guest chad-r Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 On ebay you can get a 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter for $5 w/ shipping in the US, but it only has 3 sections. The feedback sounds good, even on the adapters sold to 8125 or Faraday users. I know the 2125 has 4 sections on the headphone/mic unit that came with the phone. Check out some of the items sold by this person. Just click on "items for sale" link to see what is still available. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...id=ithought_inc So what happens to the audio? Is it true stereo or just the same signal going to both headphones? For $5 guess I shouldn't be so concerned but I would pay double or more to get real stereo sound. I had a chat with one of the guys who purchased one for his t-mobile sda one and he was happy with it, but didn't know if it was stereo or mono sound. He said he never thought about it, but it worked much better than one he purchased with 4 sections - here are his comments, "I bought the 4 section one from a different vendor. It only works if I pull it out a little bit a jiggle it. THe 3 section one from ithought_inc works great, I guess it is hard for me to tell whether it is true stereo or only mono, but the sound is good either way." Here the adapter for sale on ebay with 4 sections: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A%3AIT&rd=1 Any other recommended headphones with the right 2.5mm plug as part of the headphones? I don't want to pay $100+ for the shure headphones just for my cell phone. Any opinions or facts to share? Thanks, Chad
Guest m1.carson Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Hi, If you're any good with an iron, [ no, not a five iron] cut the cable above the answer button/mic, or just cut the buds off and solder a 3.5 in line stereo socket on it, that way you'll be able to plug any h/phones into it. Get the connector from Maplins.
Guest Susuwub Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 (edited) My adapter has 3 sections on the jack and is stereo. Edited June 26, 2006 by Susuwub
Guest chad-r Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 My adapter has 3 sections on the jack and is stereo. Can you try this mp3 just to be sure? It plays the left channel then the right channel.left_to_right.mp3
Guest MetalMessiah78 Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 I have purchased the one with the 2 black lines, and I can assure you that it is stereo, just like the ones that regular head phone have. I sometimes use it in my, to play mp3's from my phone to the head unit, or to stream internet radio to the head unit. It sounds great.

The mic/call-answer button doesn't always work though. My next headphones will be the earbuds from Skullcandy.
Guest Potatohead Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 I bought this one here http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=119290 which works Perfectly with my c600 for Headphone only, no mic. :)
Guest dishe Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 I bought this one here http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=119290 which works Perfectly with my c600 for Headphone only, no mic. :) Has anyone else noticed that sometimes the phone will recognize that the headphones don't have a mic, and use the phone's onboard mic? I wouldn't expect this to happen, but someone told me it does... It didn't work with my stereo hookup cable, but when using a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapator, I was able to talk into the phone while plugged into a speaker system. How very bizzare, but useful!
Guest HighProtein Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 If you're in the USA... 1/8" Stereo Jack to 3/32" Stereo Plug Adapter You'll nead this adapter to hear audio with regular headphones. I just picked one up and RadioShack and it works great. http://www.radioshack.com/sm-1-8-stereo-ja...pi-2062470.html

The problem I saw with the radio shack adapter I tried at the store is that its just too big. Sure it works, but its like 1.5" long sticking out the bottom of the phone. The right angle ones on ebay can be purchased for less than $5 including shipping in the US. They would be much better because they only stick out the phone about 1/2" or less. see this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A%3AIT&rd=1
Guest slimgym Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 I recently bought a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor (with mic) from ebay which had a 3 pin connector - unfortunately the 3.5mm output was mono so this was a dead loss. I can't quite figure this out though as the layout of the 3 pins suggested the mic pin would be shorted to ground and the plug would pick up L and R, but taking the mic apart shows only two connections up to the 3.5mm socket. This article has the pin-outs on showing how to easily modify a Nokia hands free into a Smartphone if that's of any interest. In the end I made my own up - Tescos have a 4 pin Nokia "Value" earpiece for
Guest slimgym Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 > Has anyone else noticed that sometimes the phone will recognize that > the headphones don't have a mic, and use the phone's onboard mic? I left my mic connection open circuit so the pin to the phone is floating. If I plug in the adaptor and then ring the phone, the phone mic is not connected. If I unplug the adaptor and plug it back in whilst on the call, the phone mic springs into life (and the headphones give audio). If you then ring off and re-ring it, you can use the phone mic straight off. If you unplug and replug it while you're not on the phone, then the next call is mute again. That seems intermittent at best, which is a shame!
Guest chad-r Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 ok, got some experience with a couple of these finally... I tried the 4 pole plug but it doesn't work correctly - maybe I got a bad one, but it was free anyway so who cares. I ordered a 3 pole plug from ebay for less than 4.50 usd shipped that works perfect, except left and right channel is reversed so I just chose swapped stereo mode from tcpmp http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=290003924553 When the phone rings the sound comes through the headphones but the mic on the phone is turned off until the headphones are unplugged. Maybe there is a way to force the phone mic to be used when I get a call? Chad
