Guest fuchsiashock Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 I just bought a new Kingston 1gb Mini SD card for my XDA Mini running windows mobile 5. The new card replaces a 256mb Kingston Mini SD which worked fine and was formatted FAT32. Now this new card just doesnt show up when used, its been formatted the same and goes in fine, will read on PC etc but in the XDA, it just isnt detected at all. Now the weird thing it, the card doesnt work in an SPV C550 smartphone either (WM2003) but DOES work in a XDA II (Pocket PC) Any clues?!?
Guest Tech Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 the kingston cards are not mostly compatible with the mobile devices (smartphone/PPC) the ones that ARE compatible are from SanDisk, crucial and a few others but kingston is not.
Guest fuchsiashock Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Thats really odd. Any idea why? Especially as my old 256mb Kingston works fine in WM. I had no idea as it came from Hong Kong and have to ship it back!
Guest Tech Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 its just the way its been manufactured - i read something (was actually on this forum) - some component or something required in order to make it work with the mobile devices, wasnt implemented - i cannot remember exactly but I know for a fact (and alot of users have also said) that kingston do not work. To be safe: get a crucial/Sandisk miniSD card the one I got from crucial last year also threw in an SD Adapter, I guess its standard these days
