Guest Quotient Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 hi everybody, I was just wondering if there exists any dongle that can be plugged between the usb prot of a computer and a usb port of a phone so as to use the phone as a regular usb storage device. The idea however is that there should be no need of ActiveSync on the computer. Has anybody heard of such a thing? Thank you Aldy
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 There is a application for using the storage card on the phone as regular storage card but this is only for Windows Mobile 5 devices and not 2003. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=dscrip...s&f_id=1702 Moved to Help and Advice
Guest Driekus Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 (edited) Just to make the topic complete: if you have a pocket pc (phone edition or not), there's softick's cardexport (http://www.softick.com). This won't work on a smartphone though, and it isn't free. (Just thougth I'd add this, I'm sure the topic starter is talking about something for his mpx220, but if he would upgrade in the future this might not be so clear to someone else surfing by this topic looking for activesync bypass...) Guest awarner (MVP) Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 The WM5torage app also works fine on the PPC as well. Interesting about the softkick app did not know a PPC storage app for 2003 was available.
Guest Driekus Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Card Export II works like a charm on my mda compact. Haven't really tested this, but it seems that data-transfer is much faster than with activesync.

Thats right, I am using and talking about the Mpx220. Thank you very much. cheers!
Guest jimbouk Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 Why not use Activesync but dont choose any actual items to sync - ie dont select mail, appointments and contacts and then just use activesync explore to store stuff on the phone? Although I can't imagine why anybody wouldn't want their contacts backed up on their pc's outlook. If you need to hard reset or replace your phone, all your contacts straight back on to the device within a couple of minutes.
