Odd one this.

Occasionally voice mail messages left on my Orange number will fail to activate the SP5's new voice mail icon. Obviously this is a pain because I either have to keep checking for new messages unnecessarily or risk appearing rude for not returning unknown messages :)

Not sure whether the fault lies with the phone or Orange.

Has anybody else come across this?

funny you mention that... my dad today says he left me a voice message which i never got.... i check my voice mail and i have 2 new messages! didn't have an icon or anything... i'm also on orange but have a qtek 8310

looks like something else orange can't do right....

I've had this a few times with a previous phone. They use UDH messages which the phone is suposed to decode. The message contains the number of voicemails you have curently, and sending you a UDH message of 0 messages removed the icon.

It appears sometimes on T-Mobile and Orange this message has a slightly different format which some (smart) phones don't interpret properly.

I guess its a point of view who's fault it is, but i would blame the phone, since the different format UDH message still complies to spec.
