I'm just trying out an O2 XDA IQ (Tornado) and liking it so far.

I've been away from Smartphone for a while (been using PPC PE) and I'm not sure if I'm missing something in the email settings.

Whenever I download email (or when the phone does it according to the schedule) from my GMail account it deletes any emails that are currently on the phone.

- It deletes read and unread emails alike.

- It only does it for the GMail account, not on my other "regular" POP3 accounts

- It doesn't do it on my MDA VArio (Wizard)

I've checked my GMail settings and its set to keep the email in the GMail Inbox when it's been read via a PC.

Anyone got any ideas?

maybe because you have set it to downlodad oinli todays emails, it will therefore delete yesterdays emails..... should be a fix in account setup...

No, i have it set to download all content of all email. i've tried it the other way too, but it still does it.

i deleted and recreated the account on the phone and still the same.

I'm not sure how long I'll have this phone so I'll probably just forward the gmail to another mailbox for now... not ideal though.

Same was happening to me. I've asked this question here about six months ago, and got no answers. I finally switched to mail2web push email, and forwarded my gmail there.

I've diverted my emails for now, but would still be interested in a solution.

You can move the emails you want to save to a Drafts folder and then

choose not to sync the Drafts folder - that was the emails will stay there..

Go to the email account, click folders, manage folders, then move up and down

the folders and check that you have chosen not to sync drafts folder.

Hope it works..

Thanks, but that's more of a bodge than diverting them

It's a POP3 mailbox, not a synchronised mailbox, so the folder would not be an issue, but even so...

I had the same problem with my PPC x50v, and I emailed google and they said it was normal due to some sort of thing on their side and then I looked around and alot of ppl had the same problem so I dont use Gmail Pop anymore.

You have to add username to your username. Search google help for this.

I have configured my imate SP5 for Gmail to test it out and there seems to be non of the problems that other people are experiencing on their devices. I cannot however send Gmail if WiFi is activated on my device.

(I can receive) This also happens with my other POP3 ac. I have to disconnect WiFi and send by gprs.

Previously I had diverted my Gmail to the free version of Mail2web but the downside to this was your reply is seen by the recipient as coming from Mail2web, not your Gmail.

(this does not happen with the subscription version)

I now use a very good free Push email solution from www.consilient.com

Having my Gmail pushed to my device and there being no confusion for any recipients, the other methods are now redundant.
