XDA screen locked

This ia really a cry for help. I have done some searching, but haven't found helpon this topic yet.

Just received new XDA from O2. After doing a hard reset it now no longer loads the startup screen. Instead it stays on the first screen with the O2 symbol and the red writing in the bottom right corner denoting the radio version etc. It won't even turn off, so I have to either wait for the bettery to run down or take the bettery out. :)

Neither hard nor soft resets seem to help. Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I might try other than throwing it against a wall?

If it's new just get O2 to replace it!
