c550 problem with 2GB mini-SD card

i have a 2GB mini-SD card (bundled with compatible reader) which is specifically advertised as working with the c550 - http://www.mobymemory.com/proddetail.asp?p...BUNDLEBUY%5F001

after copying the contents of my old 1GB card to the new 2GB one everything initially seemed to work OK

TCPMP plays movies OK, mediaplayer plays MP3s etc.

but ..

now when i try to open jpeg images off the card with file manager, the album app throws an error message "file format jpeg not supported"

????

when i replace my old card and try to load the same file everything is OK again.

any ideas anybody?

It won't be the card - I've used a MobyMemory own-brand 2gig card in a C550 with no problems. Try re-starting the phone and see if that clears the problem.

Perhaps there was a problem copying the image files from one card to the other. You could use Binarys Smart Explorer to associate jpegs with Album. That might work.

this is just weird.

i've copied the same jpeg image to both the 2gb card and to the phones internal memory. then using file manager i try to open them. the one on the phone memory opens in album whereas the one on the card fails to open and album throws a "file format not supported" error.

and it isn't file associations because if i do an "open with" and select album - same thing happens. yet it works fin on my original 1gb card.

so either the card is faulty or the album app doesn't support the card.

right now, i'm thinking about RMAing it for a refund.

disco stu, could you try doing what i did with your card? ie. try loading a jpeg into album from off the 2gb card and let me know what happens.

thanks.

I'm sorry mate, but I've just copied a jpeg from PC to both locations on the phone and both have opened fine using the native File Explorer.

I don't understand your problem but I'd probably return the card myself. :)
