just found a link back to modaco from another site. This is in the smartphone section but apparently works just fine on pocket pcs...

Yep it does, I have it working on my vario.

so to get this straight, u don't need active sync to transfer files?

Correct, it basically makes the storage card on the device becomes a stand alone removable storage card.

Activate the app and when you connect the phone to the PC activesync does not kick in but the system shows the device as another storage device.
