I am so bored of my C600. No wi-fi and no 3G and crappy 1MP camera. :-(

Why can't HTC make a decent new handset with all the above features and better camera.

Nokia look like they are making great handsets (battery excluded) if you look at the Nokia N80. If it ran Windows Mobile I would buy a N80 in a second.

The SPV C700 looks disgusting and it also has NO wi-fi! What is the deal with this?

When are we going to get a decent Windows Smartphone will all the nodern day expected features.

Think I might give Symbian a shot if things don't improve. Anyone else jumped ship because of this?

I've just gone Symbian (N 6260) to C500 and I wouldn't make the jump back. The Symbian was unresponsive and slow compared to WM and this is even for the C500 which is quite old by todays standards. I know the 6260 is also an old handset but playing with a colleagues N70 it seems much the same and is also bulky compared to the HTC handsets. I think you're right that the handsets lack feature - the camera on the N70 is really good but it's a phone primarily and for me WM is streets ahead of Symbian. Wifi would be a welcome addition too, but I think unless they can combine that with a usable phone size then you're into a different market.

FWIW I bought both the 6260 and C500 off ebay just intending to dip my toe in the market before spending lots of a particular system. The C500 performs well enough in its own right and IMHO is streets ahead of the Symbian offerings.

i actually bought a N80 coz it had all the features i could ever want...

but after 3 weeks, it's been sold and i'm back with my C600... there's only 2 features which the Nokia do better Bluetooth file transfers and Camera quality...

Windows Mobile 5.0 is far far better than Symbian, full stop...

I had a play on my dad's N70, and whilst the camera is great the whole OS feels clunky and unintuitive. MS smartphones all the way tbh, I preferred my C500 and my charmer is just streets ahead.

So can we get a decent modern phone from HTC? I don't mind the extra mm for the extra features but please take a reality check on the C700 disappointment and give us what most of us want!

WITH WI-FI!

Why not go for an imate SP5 instead of the C600 as that has WiFi.

Otherwise depending on size what about a PocketPC mobile like the JasJar? that has all the specs that you ask for apart from a higher res camera.

I have had most spv's from the original about five years ago. I tried a Nokia 60 something and hated it. I now use the Imate JAMin, which is the same as the Orange M600.

Whilst the only thing missing is a phone keypad and thus its no good for texting, emailing whilst walking around, - as a phone it is very user friendly, with a 2mp camera, wifi and edge, and a huge screen, it still fits in my jeans pocket and is great for web surfing etc. I looked at the Jasjar - buts its just too big and the KJAM is too thick. I might however go with the next evolution of the KJAM, as it is coming with 3g.

The HTC SP5 is a brilliant compact device which does deliver, it's akin to a mini-laptop. The camera could be better but it does what it is intended to do, anyone serious about photography has a dedicated digital camera anyway. With a pair of Sony or Sure in-ear headphones who needs an i-pod? As for the replacement having no Wi-Fi it is a major retrograde step, but you will find today big business adopts the policy of of it's our choice not yours so you can take it or leave it and there is the door. I have bought a new SP5 which is still in the box and will be brought into play when my present one gives up the ghost. In this world today it's no good waiting you have to try and pre-empt and work it out :) for yourself.

I have a 2125 and also don't like it much. The Joystick doesn't work too well. The BlueTooth is almost worthless, basically it doesn't work. I find that it at times doesn't play the sound through the headset but through the phone. This make voice dialing worthless. If you have the tools you can't really write any of your own little apps as the phone is app locked and not that easy to unlock even given the hints here. I have had an experience similar to those who failed at unlocking and gave up for now at least. Also no a2dp so no stereo bluetooth so no music I don't want wired headphones.

The SP5 is a bit dated now so I don't think it would be a good buy as it is the same as my C600 bar wifi.

You are a little mistaken in that it's not HTC but rather Orange who have a bad habit of stripping the handsets down.

For pity's sake don't get a Nokia!!!

IMHO wait a bit for the Hermes to come out (rumoured August) WiFi, 3G, Video calling, qwerty keyboard etc etc, its gotta be one of the most eagerly awaited devices at the mo!

I am thinking of doing that.........bit worried about the screen cracking though in my front pocket (if it will fit?)

I'm using the Vario which is near as dammit the same size, and carry it in my pocket with the screen facing in (towards my leg) its not too bulky at all. I did buy a case for when I'm at work but I suppose it depends on what your work environment is like

It is Orange that do not want to give you more features. Get a T-mobile SDA (US) that has wifi.
