C600 light coming on every 10 seconds

Hi guys.

Having had a (relatively!) problem free 6 months with my C600, for some reason it has suddenly decided to put the backlight on every 10 seconds or so? No power mangagement settings have been changed (have checked and they all still makes sense though) and apart from the direction 'joystick' becoming less and less responsive, everything else seems to be working nicely.

Any ideas what I can do, as it is destroying the battery life to about 12 hrs without usage (bar automatic email syncing)

Wonder if the joystick is causing an intermittant contact, so it sends a signal to wake the phone up?

Could be, but not sure it is as it is so regular... and it does not affect the use of other buttons?

Have u checked to make sure its not trying to make any sort of data connection in the background, if its cycling then that would cause the back light to come on
