Outlook Email Attachments - WM5

So I have this great "smart" phone, Cingular 2125. I have upgraded the rom to the latest version that supports push email now. So far so good, I am getting all my email sometimes before it even shows up in my outlook box!

But there is a problem. It all seemed a little too good to be true. I get emails with an attachment, 9 times out of 10 I can't open them, despite having Clearvue installed. I also can't figure out for the life of me where the attachments are being saved? I would like to have them go to the 2GB MiniSD card but have not figured out yet.

The other thing I have noticed is when sending an email via the phone and outlook, I can't attach a file?

Am I just missing something here or is this standard WM5 issues?

Is the device a smartphone or a ppc? If the later:

In your inbox settings in activesync on your device, you can dictate whether to download headers, first 5kb or all of each email, and whether to include attachments (either all attachments or attachments up to 25kb). These are all useful to reduce potentially huge data costs.

However, even if you restrict your mail data, you can download individual attachments, simply click on the attachment and then do a send receive.

To store mail attachments on your SD card, in your mail, select menu, tools, options, then click on the storage tab to see a tick box for using the storage card.

To send attachments, simply start a new mail, then click menu, insert, file.

The Cingular 2125 is a smartphone. I do have the option you mentioned in activesync, which I have done.

The problem is once the phone downloads the attachment I don't seem to be able to tell it where to save, and I don't know where it is saving them.

And I simply do not seem to have any option to attach a file to an email I am sending.

Anyone have any further information on this?

Attachments are by default stored in a sub folder (called Mail attachments) of a folder called something like inbox.mst87879798898... (the name is set by pocket outlook/activesync)

As I mentioned above, you can select to save them on the storage card from the menu and it then creates folders as above on the storage card.

I am sure on my C500 (smartphone) you could click menu, insert and then attach when sending mail.

I do appreciate your help, however neither of these options exist on this device. There is no option within the menu options that allows you to choose to store messages on an storage card.

And the only insert options within an email for attaching files is "Pictures and Voice Notes" but no option to insert just any file you want.

No one else seems to have any ideas, or posting to share them. I do appreciate your time and effort responding.

The default location of the attachments is "\Windows\Messaging\Attachments." It can be changed through the registry. Take a look at the Modaco forum - HTC Tornado / Faraday & Variants - Tornado.MoDaCo.com for details on how to change the location of the attachments, as well as other useful info. I'm having the same problem as you with Clearvue. It seems that the file association will not save.
