Guest jbeynon Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 so ther subject says it all - was i stupid signing up for an 18 month contract with an Online tariff from o2 if i want to be able to use gprs without getting stiffed for it? I just received this from them I am sorry but we do not offer data tariffs to our online Pay Monthly customers. You can change your tariff to any of the tariffs that are available with an 18 month contract. Please note that all the online tariffs offer 1.0 Mb of free browse and download facility. If you want, you can add a data Bolt On to your account. We offer the following data Bolt Ons, which can be added to your account: 1) 2.0 Mb data Bolt On - The charge for this Bolt On is
Guest jimbouk Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 You could probably get away with 4mb a month (which is what you seem to have already signed up for). Change your emails to download header only (or first 5kb), dont download attachments until you are at your pc and turn off pics on your Pocket internet explorer, and dont visit sites like ebay (that are approx 200kb per page)! If you have directpush enabled, expect approx 12mb a month minimum!
Guest hotphil Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 (edited) If an O2 ONline tariff is one bought through their website and it's within 14 days, my advice would be sames as chucky.eggs - get out of it now! Those data prices seem even worse than Orange! Go with T-Mobile (unless you've got any particular reason not to) and get the 'unlimited' data and never worry about it again. Best thing I ever did. Hell, they'll even throw in SatNav at silly cheap price. Edited July 12, 2006 by hotphil
Guest mcwarre Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Also use google mobile it strips a lot of info out and is really cool as well (http://www.google.co.uk/mobile/)
Guest dukevim Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 fsck knows what they're thinking at O2 I can only imagine (hope) they're losing bucketloads of customers over their incredibly poor data prices. I've been with them years and when I called up to talk to CS, I ended up talking (apparently) to a manager, and he claimed to know nothing about T-mobile's deal, and could offer nothing even vaguely comparable - their unlimited data deal is about
