Guest glinja Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Hi, this is my first post so first, and foremost, thanks for letting me in ;) Now to the problem (there is always a catch). Ive been given a c500 phone but the trouble is, the earpiece volume switch on the left, will only turn the volume down, the rocker seems non responsive in the up position (it wont press that way). Its a nightmare, as ive got to use speaker phone for all conversations!!. Is there any way to fix this, (im thinking a stripdown!!), or is there a way to keep it set to maximum, in the registry?. Please help anyone out there, im desperate :) Regards, Glenn
Guest fluffcat1 Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 The microswitch may have lifted from the board. Does the switch 'click' when you try to up the volume? If so, use the guides in the typhoon section to strip the phone, put some flux around the contacts for the up button and re-melt the solder for a few seconds. Don't apply more. Should sort it out! Failing that, if the microswitch is broken ( you can test continuity when pressed with a multimeter ) it's a fairly common standard part and straightforward to replace. Richard

Richard Fluffcat, many thanks for the quick response sir, and to answer your question, no the switch does not click (only in the downward position, just the one i dont need lol). im a little aprehensive to strip down (only as a last resort), so is it not viable to change the setting in registry? Thanks again, glenn, ps where is the typhoon section? Glenn Edited July 12, 2006 by glinja
Guest fluffcat1 Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 http://www.modaco.com/HTC-Typhoon-and-Vari...aCocom-f61.html I'm sure you can use the registry to max the volume. However, I don't know how to, sorry :-( If you want a new microswtich I usually have them on ebay, or you could sacrifice the camera button from the other side of the board. You need to be good but not brilliant with a soldering iron to do the repair. You could always take it to a repair shop but they will charge roughly the amount you can get a 2nd hand typhoon on ebay for! Richard
Guest glinja Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 cheers again richard, but do you know where i can find out about trying to do this through the registry, if not sir, i will take apart tonight!! cheers glenn
Guest fluffcat1 Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Typhoon section would be the place to start ;-) Richard
