Connect SPV C550 to car stereo?

Hi.

I have just changed my car and unfortunately it has no cd player (shock, horror!) just a radio and cassette player (whatever one of those is :) !). I can't really be bothered with the hassle of changing the stereo as the sound is quite good and the radio is quite a good one (RDS etc). But I was wondering if there is some way of connecting my SPV C550 to the stereo so I can listen to my MP3s through it? This is probably a long shot but I know you can connect all sorts of things up these days!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Lynda

Hi Lynda

You can use a Nokia 5510 adaptor (or equivalent) then a car CD Adaptor. Setup would then be: car stereo - car CD adaptor - 5510 adaptor - Windows Smartphone.

I have that kind of setup and enjoys watching Tom and Jerry flix on my car. :)

I have a very cheap (and tacky) set up for my car. I have a cassete tape with line in (got it for $10 at a wal-mart) and a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter I got at Radio Shack for $4. I have my phone sitting in a belt holdster which conveniently fits my phone nicely and dangles from my cars cup holder. You can also buy an FM transmitter but most are expensive, eat up battery (unless you have it w/ dc power) and have weak signals.

The cheapest way I used to have mine setupi was a FM transmitter and 2.5-3.5 adapter.

Look here for cheapo transmitter. it can also be used in Ipods ect...FM TRANSMITTER

And a 2.5-3.5 adapter from any electrical hifi store ;-)

OK, thanks for the replies.

I have had a look at the FM transmitter and also the cassette adapter (where you put a 'cassette', with a 3.5mm jack attached, into the stereo then plug the jack into your device), so I know I one way or another I can do it but I wondered what the sound quality was like on either of these? Is the FM transmitter better or the cassette adapter?

Any thoughts weould be appreciated

best wishes

The sound with stereo transmitter is excellent as long as you tune your radio onto the right frquency. I use mine to blast out my mp3's thru my cd-mp player. really good. the cassette option is of equal quality but wuth with the hassel of wire haning around..

I much prefer the fm way as its so much more versatile and can be used at home in ya pc to broadcast your mp3 collection to your home stereo or move a radio outside in this lovely weather whilst BBQ'in ect..ect..

Its all down to personal choice I guess ;-)

Good luck with your decision Lynda

FM is of very limited bandwidth, so will be low quality (like 92kbps or something?).

Tape also isn't amazing quality, but from listening to both side by side it's better than FM transmitters. Cheaper too :)

I have to dissagree with ya there Funky..

I'm using the XPASS transmitter(now banned in the UK due to its amazing 200MTR range lol)

Its sound is amazing and unless your a trained recording studio engineeer your really not gonna notice.
