Guest Leaskovski Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Hi Guys and Gals, Does anyone know of a simple program that can run on my WM2005 ppc device that checks to see if a server is up and running? Eg, uses the GPRS to connect and try and either download a webpage or ping a computer every hour and then alert me (vibrate or sound) if the computer can't be found. It would be preferable if i dont have to install anything on the server. Cheers

How about something running on a PC that sends emails when whatever is being monitored is down - and then you set up your device to pick up emails every hour? We use Big Brother to monitor servers and services (www.bb4.org) and that will certainly do what you need, but it's a server-based package (Linux/Windows) so might be too much setup for what you need (but has the advantage of doing heaps more than you're asking for). But there are many other such programs kicking around and I would guess that you could find something simple that runs on a PC and sends an email. Hope this helps?
