Does anyone use the Home button at all ?

I don't. I just press the "end call" button and it brings me to home. So I wonder why they design it that way ?

How do I program it to start some program ? Maybe TCPMP, which I use very often.

By the way, other than TCPMP which is a free MP3 Player, are there any other free MP3 Player for Smartphone ? Thanks!

Heres a list of the values for the keys. This is all done at your own risk, I just found this on the site, if you arent comfortable with editing the registry think twice as bricking it can be a pain

Thanks but following the instructions, I can only re-program the Right key and not the Home key. Anything I've missed ? THanks.

I was only able to remap the 'Long Home' key (invoked via long press of Home key) on the C550 but not the Home key perse.

Just for info, two Smartphone (C500/C550) reg keys containing 'home.exe':

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init, Launch80, home.exe

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSHome, 1, home.exe

Me thinks it would be hard to remap Home key as 'home.exe' (\Windows\home.exe) loads on system startup. :)

Thanks but it won't work for me as I needed it to switch off my GPRS once in a while. And at the same time, I find the HOME button pretty useless. I just need to press "ENd Call" and I'm back in Home, why I need a Home button ?

Only thing I can think of is if you need to return to the homescreen while on a call. For example, you want to check your calendar while on a call to set up an appointment. You need to go to Home to get to your other applications.

You can also get to Home Screen by pressing the Back key.

Yes, most of the time. The back key really puts you back to the previous application. Assuming you came from the home screen, that's where you will go. However, if you are in PIE, the back key will take you to the previous page. Once you hit the favorites screen, it alternates between the first page and the favorites screen--you won't get out of PIE with the back key.

The only sure way to get to the homescreen with one key press is the Home button.
