Guest Xenzo1990 Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Orange Store online tells me that c600s are out of stock for upgrade, but not for new customers? How come anyone?
Guest kelv23 Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Orange Store online tells me that c600s are out of stock for upgrade, but not for new customers? How come anyone? The sites been saying that for ages now. The probable reason for them not offering them as upgrades is to attract and be able to offer them to new customers. I got mine from a local shop on a new contract/customer, the last one as well. If they didnt have any I was off to the 02 shop for an XDA..........
Guest James Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 its becsuse mono secured the C600 stock to give away at the meet! :) but really, i would wait mate! some better devices on their way very soon (C700)
Guest Xenzo1990 Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 (edited) Personally, I think the c700 looks a bit chunky and ugly. I dont really see the massive difference between that and the c600. However I may hold out. Any ideas for when its due out on orange? They do seem to take for ever to get new devices out. I think I will still go for a c600, other than 3g, there isn't much difference between the c600 and c700, except the c700 is heavier and bigger and uglier =\ Edited July 16, 2006 by Xenzo1990
Guest mini_man Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Hmm the C700 is *really* thin from pictures ive seen.
Guest Xenzo1990 Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 The thing is, the c700 is all great, however its bulkier than other handsets because its 3g. The phone is being released on 3g when orange don't really have data plans that allow us to take full advantage of this functionaility. If it had wifi I would have it over a c600, maybe the c800 will have wifi =\
Guest charmer Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Orange Store online tells me that c600s are out of stock for upgrade, but not for new customers? How come anyone? I have had a C550 for 10 months now and on Friday I got a call from Orange asking me if I would like to upgrade my phone free of charge. I was offered the C600 and told that it will be with me tomorrow (Tuesday 18th July). So I guess they're not out of stock.

Orange don't ring you, more likely some 3rd party orange authorised phone reseller with an orange number generator has got your number on-spec and rung you pretending to be from orange. They'll have signed you up for 18 months and may even have put you through as a new connection after porting in and out of orange. It happens and most people don't realise. Ring 150 and check the status. Bet they don't have it listed or any record of your conversation with 'orange'. It's a well known problem. Richard
Guest Xenzo1990 Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Rang orange last night, suprised to hear that it was in stock, and I could upgrade free even though my contract isn't up yet =D Very pleasing. Shame about their Indian call centres though, they will certainly lose a lot of business if they take it all over to India. Seen it happen with BT and the service is appalling, if I wanted to read the FAQ i would do, I dont want somebody who I cant understand to read it back to me. Honestly, they move a call centre to 'reduce costs' make it sound like the customer benefits, when actually they just make more money, we pay the same prices even though we have inferior customer service. It's quite the problem for consumers today =\

They tried to call me a few days before but I wasn't able to take the call and asked them to phone me back. In the meantime I dialed 150 to speak to Upgrades and they said a callback was scheduled for later that evening. I was called back, and I made a point of checking about the contract length and it was 12 months

Got through to them (very quickly, I might add) and they did have a full record of the conversation, so I guess I did speak to Orange rather than a 3rd party right from the offset. Phone is still scheduled for delivery tomorrow! Incidentally, new Orange SmartPhones get a bit of mention on The Register for anyone that's interested: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/07/17/or...hones_revealed/

Good, glad it was just me and my suspicious little mind. Richard

Good, glad it was just me and my suspicious little mind. Richard The guy I spoke to was very good about talking me through the various talk plans and making sure I was on the right package - he went through the number of calls I make each month, number of texts I send and level of data usage. Decided I was pretty much on the right package, but probably saved a couple of pounds a month by adding a texting bolt-on. I've never had problems with Orange customer support in the past, but this was certainly my most positive experience.

I haven't had much need to speak to the call centre, but whenever I have, I have always spoken to a Geordie.
Guest Restorer Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Hmm.... I haven't had much need to speak to the call centre, but whenever I have, I have always spoken to a Geordie. Yeah, Orange call centres are in Newcastle and India. Seems pretty much pot luck which one you get.
Guest Xenzo1990 Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Apparently from 7PM onwards it goes through to Newcastle. During the day it's india; according to the guy who I rang. I just hope they retain the one in Newcastle.
