Guest Desecrator Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 After formatting (a couple of times) and installing new firmware I'm fed up with having to enter all my e-mailsettings once again; there must be someone here that knows if it's possible to make a cab file with the e-mail settings specified in _setup.xml? The names of the different properties in the xml-file is what I'm looking for. I'd be happy to share the info to all others, and maybe even a program for pc-desktop which generates the resulting cab. :) Regards, Peter Larsson!
Guest chucky.egg Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 AFAIK the email settings are held in a database, they're not registry settings that you can just "apply" I'm interested too, but so far I've not heard any way that this could be done

If so it should be possible, I have a cab-file from my provider with settings for my phone. We'll just have to wait for someone who knows for sure; so guys if you're reading and DO know, just drop a line. :) /Des
Guest jimbouk Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 The issue is down to a) your username and password being unique and b)thousands of different mail services and the differences between them (and the new mail services starting up every day. MS and/or the operators would be fined millions if they tried to offer the mail settings for mail services but not for all of them. (Just imagine if MS tried to get mobile users to use hotmail by default). SMS and MMS are phone functions and each require a specific app to work with the device. Pop Mail services all work in Pocket Outlook without extra software - just your settings. Having said all that, if your mail service has set its server up properly and is recognised by MS, then all you need to enter is your email address and let it then auto set up the server details for you.

Well, I wasn't looking for a generic xml-document that would work for all windows mobile users in the world. If possible I would like to create a document like the one I've attached which contains the settings for MMS and GPRS. /Des56539_tele2.cab
