Guest jimbouk Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 I need to add it to my wireless modem's allowed connections list. Thanks in advance! Turn on wifi in comm panel, then click menu and wifi settings. Click on the advanced tab and your wifi mac address will be shown. One of the easiest ways is to turn off mac filtering on the router and then connect. Once connected you can note your mac address and add it to the allowed list and then turn filtering back on. Some routers allow you to simply import the mac addresses before you switch filtering on.
Guest preloaded Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Start->Settings->Connections->Wireless Lan It should be displayed in the box marked MAC Thanks so far, but not quite there yet. Inside my Wireless LAN settings i have these tabs along the bottom... MAIN ADVANCED POWERMODE LEAP ENROLL The only one with any mention of MAC is nthe ADVANCED tab, in this tab i have 3 non editable boxes... STATUS MAC IP All 3 are empty. A MAC address is specific to each individual device, so somewhere this one's should be findable. Any other thoughts?
Guest preloaded Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Actually, i don't think wifi was enabled proper. Now it is and the 3 previously empty boxes have info in, including my MAC address. :) Thanks again!
Guest Confucious Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Sorry it's different on my Universal - I have 3 tabs- Main Settings and LEAP and it's displayed on the Main tab.
Guest preloaded Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Sorry it's different on my Universal - I have 3 tabs- Main Settings and LEAP and it's displayed on the Main tab. That's okay. We got the wifi working. :) Got another question now! So, my wifi is working, and ive entered all my network details (TCP/IP are not automatically set on our network so they need to be manually set) All seems good - in my wifi settings my appropriate SSID etc. are all shown, and status is CONNECTED TO NETWORK, my assigned IP is displayed, i see the signal strength etc. However, when i launch IE, it doesn't find any of the URLs i ented saying page cannot be found. I am assuming that IE is not using the wifi connection to access the internet - how do i set it to do that? Can you tell i just got a new phone? Sorry, i'm normally good at this sort of thing, but this is foxing me repeatedly. r. ;)

Currently tried both Work and Internet but no joy still. What are the differences between the 2? r.

The device can have different routes for the internet or for work networks. Orange devices are always a little funny due to their use of the work network settings for MMS. I added a new network connecttion called MY ISP and connect via that. Go to Settings, Connections Tab, Connections and click advanced tab. There are the options for which settings internet access uses.
